Year inducted into the ACTA Hall of Fame: 2014
Deserie was introduced to clay target shooting in 1970 aged 10, by her mentor, coach and father, Gordon Wakefield.
At the age of 13 years she attended her first Trap nationals in Melbourne, winning the ladies high gun, a feat that she followed up eight times in the succeeding ten years.
In the early 1980's she commenced shooting ISSF Trench. In 1991 Australia fielded it's first ever ISSF International ladies team, which she was a member.
In 1992, she became the first lady to win the Open Team High Gun in the Mackintosh event.
1994 she was a member of the Australian Open Team for the 1994 World Trap Championships.
Oceania ISSF Championships saw her win gold in 1993, 1995, 1997 and 1999.
1996 Atlanta Olympic Games she won Bronze in Double Trap.
2000 was a significant year in her shooting career with a win in the Lonato World Cup, was a member of the Australian Olympic team for Sydney and runner up in the World Cup final in Nicosia.
Deserie joined forces with Suzy Corry (nee Balogh) to win Gold at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
She has kept herself involved in the sport behind the scenes for many years with the South Australian Clay Target Association (SACTA) as state secretary from 2007-2015.
In 2012 she was the recipient of the SACTA Presidential Medal for her outstanding contribution made to Clay Target shooting in South Australia.
In 2018 she was awarded Life membership with the Australian Clay Target Association (ACTA).
